But it isn't full capitulation. It is ceding territories and limiting size of army and available weapons technology. Essentially finlandization. The country would still be free to elect their democratic leaders and aspire for EU and NATO. And that's why Putin will never go for it. Because it would still mean losing Ukraine to the West.

The current peace plan all but a big circlejerk for Putin. A means to delay Tomahawks or really anything else to be sent to (or developed in) Ukraine. In December, the EU will need to somehow resolve the issue of financing Ukraine. There is only one option -  frozen assets of Russia.

The second question: weapons. The United States, knowing that Europe has money, will sell its weapons at an additional margin.  After all, there is no one else to buy them -in stock.


Thirdly, the situation at the front. Reducing the supply of weapons, along with reducing the intelligence information of the Ukrainian army, will benefit the Kremlin.


Ukraine already has a shortage of soldiers at the front, so it is quite possible that the situation will worsen.


Fourth, Zelinsky's entourage is now accused of corruption, and he himself is compromised. Of course , in peacetime , this is just a scandal , but in wartime it is a national betrayal

If Ukraine were to draw up a peace plan requiring the capitulation of russia we´d call them delusional aswell, this is just blustering again. The intent from Washington seems pretty clear on this. The US will push this peace plan. It gets rejected by Ukraine, who will be backed by the Europeans, and the US then gets to wash their hands of the whole thing saying "well we tried but Europe and Ukraine are just warmongers". The US then abandons Ukraine entirely to their fate, leaving the Europeans as Ukraine's only major backers.

There are many ideological elements within the White House that want the US entirely out of Europe and strategically disentangled with them. Vance is the biggest proponent, and his puppeteers. Miller also has a burning hatred for Europe too. Russia will be all too happy to have that result, and so are likely pressing on Trump for the same.

Europe has always had the ability to take the lead on Ukraine. They just couldn’t muster enough unity or commit enough resources to make it happen. Despite all the chest thumping about not needing to rely on the US re:Ukraine, they have continually dropped the ball and failed to give Ukraine the support that it needs.
